This was the home of historian Raúl Porras Barrenechea, a distinguished university professor, literary critic, public servant, and diplomat who served as Peru’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Today, the house hosts the Center for Advanced Peruvian Studies and Research of the National University of San Marcos, an institute that bears his name and preserves his invaluable legacy. It also functions as a House Museum, where Porras Barrenechea lived and spent most of his life.
The building, declared a historic monument in 1980, retains all of his artworks, furniture, paintings, sculptures, photographs, and personal and family memorabilia.
